Any vulnerable person is at risk of being trafficked, but individuals with intellectual, cognitive, emotional and mental health disabilities may be targeted because of these additional vulnerabilities. Women, men and youth, girls and boys, are vulnerable to traffickers, but raising awareness of human trafficking empowers agencies and care providers to help prevent and respond to this crime. Workshop participants will be educated to awareness and empowered to report and make a difference in their professional capacity and in the lives of those they serve.

Presentation by Jeri Moomaw, Innovations Human Trafficking Collaborative.

WORKSHOP GOALS:

  • Raise awareness of human trafficking of vulnerable populations;
  • Empower participants with skills to identify human trafficking;
  • Educate attendees on how to prevent and respond to human trafficking; and
  • Learn about effective and culturally-appropriate victim response techniques, including the Victim-Centered Approach and Trauma-Informed Support.
