Flu and Pneumonia Season is Here

It’s more important than ever to get a flu vaccine this year.

We may not have a vaccine yet for COVID-19, but we DO have a vaccine for flu.

The flu vaccine can keep you from getting sick with flu during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We can all do our part to prevent illness and hospitalizations caused by flu. This will help save healthcare resources for COVID-19 response in our communities.

Department of Health Flu Update

The Department of Health offers regular updates on flu activity in Washington. According to DOH it is more important than ever to get a flu vaccine this year. We may not have a vaccine for COVID-19, but we do have a vaccine for the flu.

To find a flu vaccine:

  • Call your doctor, nurse, or clinic.
  • Visit your local pharmacy.
  • Contact your local health department.
  • Call the Family Health Hotline at 1-800-322-2588.

Did You Know?

  • In the United States, approximately 20,000 people die every year from the flu,and 50,000 die from pneumonia.
  • Most people who get the flu will recover in less than 2 weeks. For others, flu complications (such as pneumonia) can result in hospitalizations and death.
  • Pneumonia is often the final illness in people who have other serious, chronic diseases.
