March is DD Awareness Month

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month!

A message from the DSHS’ Developmental Disabilities Administration

March is a pivotal time to advocate for Developmental Disabilities Awareness. This month serves as a platform to educate communities about the challenges faced by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, emphasizing the importance of acceptance, understanding and support.

March offers an opportunity to promote advocacy efforts and push for policies that enhance the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It’s a time to celebrate accomplishments and contributions while acknowledging the need for continued support and resources. By amplifying their voices and experiences, we can work towards building a more equitable society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

March also provides a platform to recognize caregivers, families and professionals. Their dedication, compassion and commitment play a vital role in improving the lives of those they care and advocate for.
